A Tale about a Failing Global Healthcare System...

...and more particularly, how the medical profession evaluates, endorses, and authorizes certain medications in times of emergency. It tells the tale of at least 6.5 million fatalities (as of October 2022). The Covid-19 pandemic has exposed deep-seated problems in the global healthcare system.

The system is also to blame for not having an effective way to track and follow up on patients who do not respond to treatments. Finally, the governments are responsible for not investing enough in identifying and developing of available medications and therapies.

Ours is a story of failure because nations failed to collaborate to combat a global pandemic. Its front-line caregivers were not trusted by the media or big science. Treating physicians’ requests for crucial drugs were not met, and some families were forced to file lawsuits in order to obtain their loved ones the care they needed. It details the management of a terrible pandemic that claimed millions of lives.

The book is a scathing indictment of the way the world failed to rise to the challenge of a pandemic. It is a story of missed opportunities, of discarded medical options, and therewith of lives needlessly lost. But it is also a story of hope, because it shows how we can do better next time.
